We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming events for The Thread Counts Project, coordinated by Luanne Stovall and Leila Lee Mitchell for Gallery Artists Studio Projects (GaSP) , is designed to investigate the binding nature of thread and to recognize its dual role as both a noun and a verb. Through this lens, thread is experienced as a dynamic interconnective tissue operating at the core of our daily lives. It provides an elastic bridge, an artery that penetrates the divide between inside and outside, private and public. Ultimately, a network of ingenious body extensions weaves us into a vascular loom of global communication systems, binding memories of our material past to the continually unfolding future. To shed light on the nature of thread is to speak of cooperation and continuity, from the past to the present, with an eye to the future. The hub of the project, hosted at GASP gallery and a Virtual Gallery, expands to multiple physical and virtual locations and includes works by visual and sound artists, graphic designers, architects, and collaborative teams from the U.S. and abroad. Please visit our website at www.threadcountsproject.com to check the calendar of events and to view the images, bios, and statements of all the participating artists in the project. |
